ok this is real long and rambly im v sorry !! i jus wanted to talk abt music as well heh,, i loved reading ur music commentary under the tag game !! (hehe. i tag u rlly often cuz. i hav this secret inner mechanism where if a mutual tags me in anything *once* ill tag that mutual in literally everything if i remember/if prompted. tis how i roll) tho fr ur segment abt 20 min prog rock songs was so damn accurate. it rlly reminded me of pink floyd's "dogs", king crimson's "lizard" (not the album itself but moreso the sort of. i guess mashup shit they do. another prime example of this is moonchild (including the dream and the illusion), or the devil's triangle. which is honestly more nervewracking rather than boring i guess. JDEVGAVEAHDHGEAVHGAEVDGEVDG. hell ost i guess. w lizard ive listened to it so many times and while it does hav a multitude of lyrics DAMN those 23 minutes are painstakingly longgg ! i guess im a lil biased cuz u know ive played it too often. tho it does hav some v beautiful parts... ! i think a prime example of what u hav mentioned abt prog rock was w king crimson's one red nightmare. it has a cool part and then its jus. I agree that progressive rock is a very alluring and simultaneously often frustrating genre as someone who tends to be a fan of it. I consider it the musical equivalent of a sit-down meal; it requires a lot of patience and is best for when you have the time to just appreciate and drift off to it.

Progressive rock is usually lengthy, often slow, very experimental, and tends to utilize a lot of improvisation; as a result, you end up with a lot of songs with pieces that work extremely well, but you do often have to sit through a lot of parts that you just don't care for. Having music be a test of patience is understandably just not for everybody.

I find that my favorite progressive rock songs transform into feeling more like journeys rather than typical musical experiences. I consider Echoes by Pink Floyd to be my favorite prog rock song (and one of my favorite songs in general) for this reason. I end up enjoying the long middle portion entirely made of odd, unnerving, very non-"musical" sounds, because the entire song feels like you are trekking through something strange and unknown.

The slow transition with the buildup of the main tune's return at the very end of the middle portion feels almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes, or the reward at the end of a long journey- I hope that doesn't sound cheesy, lol. I enjoy sometimes playing Echoes at nighttime while I'm lying in bed, and I believe that is the absolute best time to play it. It ends up being a very moving experience for me and it really highlights the great potentials of progressive rock.

Thank you for the recommendations- I'm planning to listen to everything, anyway, but I'm sure any of my followers looking for music recs will appreciate it. King Crimson gets a lot of praise from music enthusiasts, but it doesn't seem as well-known among the mainstream as other progressive rock like Pink Floyd, for example.

ok first, i LOVE this line so much. i can kind of see it now - the similarities between reader and hanma, but at the same time they are so so different. i'm not sure why but this stood out to me! there were also many lines like this thru out the chap - i do pay attention to details bc i know some writers have a bunch of foreshadowing in their fics👀

another thing is that i literally GASPED when a certain violet haired man made an approach in this fic, im guessing it was ran but i was so happy to have him in this fic!! (i don't think it was actually mentioned if it was ran or rin, but i'm p sure it was ran ahah) i rly liked the entire encounter and he was being pretty respectful which i didn't see coming lol.

yknow i loved this entire convo so much there was a lot thrown at us but at the same time you described/phrased it in such a way that made it easier to understand. i think i re read this part like 3 times; i kinda felt like this is the most honest convo they’ve had and it was the most series imo. it was really nice seeing hanma kinda open up. we also got to know more about the docs past too.

the last line about minimizing pain for the reader 👀 idk if im being dumb or if this has some sort of deeper meaning, but is it talking about the docs emotional pain? (towards hanma maybe?) im not sure lol rip and maybe it’ll be cleared up within the next few chapters but for now i’ll be left wondering hehe

one of my favorite lines from the chapter too! And yeah, reader + hanma are so different from each other, but i think they have a pretty similar problem with how they move through the world. they never could have had this conversation before. they're only able to be this open now because a) they both think they're talking more big picture and not being fully aware of what they're revealing about themselves; but most importantly b) they have a CREEPING INTIMACY! they are so much closer than they were a few chapters back :) I am so glad you noticed that because it was Very intentional.

you pretty much nailed the pain comment. Reader recognizes that she is taking on a very out of character risk with the Hanma stuff, and that opens her up to emotional pain but also risk that he's going to make her (or her life) change, which she is resistant to.

not much to say about the smut stuff other than...i am glad to see it's working. that is what i was going for 😏😆 (also thank you on the kakucho fic :))

i love writing for this ship bc it has a chokehold on me and i just... i’m so helpless lmao. i read this hc set by @lemon-patches​ (which you should definitely go and read bc it’s amazing and all the feelings) and it talked about how jj and ki were each other’s first kiss and no one else knows. this is basically how i imagine it happened. enjoy!! as always the validation feeds me so yeah if you like it pls share it and stuff (i love reading tags on reblogs so lmao do with that what u will). i imagine they are 15/16, about 6-8 months before s1 idk if that adds up but lol thats what i went with. sorry for any errors u may find xx

a little preview so u know what you’re getting into hehe: “They stood like that for a while, long and quiet breaths synced, arms entangled in waist and shoulders, hearts rhythmically beating, just enjoying the warmth of the best friend they dearly missed.”

Tears streamed down Kiara’s face. She knew that calling the cops was petty, she knew it was the worst of her manifesting itself, but tonight Ki couldn’t bring herself to care. She found herself toppling some books off of her bookshelf. She had always known that she wasn’t good enough for Sarah. The Sarah Cameron. God, she felt so stupid.

Another wave of regret coursed through her. The pit of her stomach hollowed when she re-remembered that she’d actually listened to her parents and decided to give her kook year a genuine try. She had distanced herself from the cut and the pogues, her best friends, the people that she could always count on, the people who always cared. She gave it all up for the superficial bullshit she knew would eventually fall apart.

That entire evening, the anger and regret approached her in harsh and unforgiving turns. She couldn’t escape her own thoughts, she was so mad at herself. She had let herself become vulnerable, given herself up for someone to use and dispose. She felt so weak. All she really wanted to do was fit in, to have a normal year where she wasn’t disappointing her parents, where she wasn’t out at unreasonable hours getting her friends out of messes, watching their string of luck grow thinner and thinner with every prank and practical joke. She was tired of being the middle between the kooks and pogues, she loved the latter and she could’t escape the part of her that was the former. She just wanted to resign to one side, she just wanted things to get easier. Kiara had decided to leave everything for some peace of mind, and now she knew she’d made a mistake. She hadn’t even checked in with John B, his dad was missing and she hadn’t even checked in with him. God, she felt so stupid. Her sobs overtook her as she sat at her bed.

She was so exhausted from the crying she could scream, it had been a few long hours. And Ki, in a moment of clarity, convinced herself that she was too strong for that. Even though she felt horrible, she reminded herself that she was too careful to let this anger get the best of her. Instead, she resorted to taking a few deep breaths and cleaning up the various books and stationary strewn across her bedroom floor as a remnant of her anger. What had happened had happened, she was just going to have to figure out how to cope on her own.

Yeah, I just have to figure it out on my own. I’ll be fine.

That’s when she heard it.

Thud.

Thud. Thud.

Thud.

‘What the-’

She realised that the sound was coming from her window. Stepping toward the side of her room facing the balcony, she realised that pebbles were currently being thrown at her window by a silhouette below it. She couldn’t tell who it was because the backdoor lights had been switched off for the night. It was well past midnight and her parents were soundly sleeping in the next room, she swore she would never forgive the person currently trying to break her window if they woke up. She didn’t want anyone to see her as the mess she was right now. So as quickly and as safely as Kiara could, she opened the balcony window, “What the actual— JJ? JJ is that you?” Kiara couldn’t really understand what was going on, she had stopped talking to the pogues months ago.

“Yeah, hey Ki! Come down!”

“What?”

“You heard me bro, get dressed and come down!”

After a curt nod, she went back into her room, changed out of her PJ’s into some joggers and a hoodie and found herself sneaking out the back door out of genuine curiosity. When she was outside, she realised that neither Pope nor John B were with JJ. Along with that, she realised that he had two boxes of pizza and some beer cans set down on the grass next to him.

“What the hell are you doing here?”

“I was scrolling through Instagram, realised you weren’t at the party, thought you might need a pick me up,” He seemed to register her tired face and puffy eyes under the dim starlight because he continued, “guess I was right!”

And that’s how, twenty minutes later, JJ and Ki found themselves in a clearing near her house. They sat down opposite each other, the pizza boxes separating them.

“Got your favourite, double cheese, double pepperoni and half the jalapeño.”

Except for the occasional direction here and there, Ki had been quite their entire walk. She couldn’t really even process what was happening. How was JJ here? Why was he talking to her after she’d treated them him like shit the past few months? None of it made sense to her, least of all why this was all from JJ. With all of it perplexing her, the only thing she managed to say was, “You remembered.”

‘Yeah of course I did Ki, just because you stopped talking to us doesn’t mean we stopped caring about you. Come on, dig in, it’s getting cold.”

She didn’t know how to respond to him so she just followed him in picking up a slice from the box. Warm pizza , cold beer and melted cheese heavily complemented the gentle breeze that surrounded them. They fell into a comfortable silence as they ate.

“I’m so sorry.”

“I know Ki-”

“No, everything I did these past few months, the way I cut you guys off, the way I left y’all when you needed me I-”

“Ki we know-”

“God, I’ve been so stupid, I left you guys, like y’all were nothing, y’all needed me and I-”

“Ki, Ki-” Ki just continued, she felt horrible, “KIARA!” JJ saying her full name was so foreign to her, especially since he hadn’t even call her by her nickname these past few months, it undoubtably got her to stop talking.

“I know the pressure your parents put on you to start at that kook academy. Look we all know how hard it is for you to manage these two parts of your life. I know Ki, you don’t have to keep apologising, I know. We know! Why do you think we didn’t try to talk to you when you told us last summer? We want you to do what’s best for you Ki, you are better than us.” At that, Kiara got up and paced back and forth a few steps, remorse hitting her unbearably. 

“I’m not better than any of you. A part of me wanted to leave you all behind.”

JJ’s response was almost instantaneous, “I don’t blame you for it!”

“Well you should! I left you and Pope. I left John B for god’s sake. His dad is most probably dead and I wasn’t theRE.... I-I’m not there.”

At this point the tears had returned to her and she broke on her last word. Her voice wasn’t steady anymore. “I left all of you... I left you.”

JJ couldn’t stand hearing Ki like this, there’s nothing he hated more than having to let down his guard and get real. But JJ, when she said that, realised that this wasn’t about him. 

“Yeah Ki you did, but fuck that. We know you love us, we know that it was a difficult call! You have to forgive yourself. The reason I came tonight was to let you know that you have the people that care about you Ki.”

He stepped toward her and looked her right in the eye, Ki had never seen someone so determined with compassion before, “Whatever you do Ki - if you wanna go to the kook academy, if you wanna be friends with Sarah Cameron, if you wanna cry about how horribly she treated you, if you wanna listen to your parents and not talk to us, if you wanna leave the cut- we’re never not going to have your back. You’re a pogue. You’re our pogue! And if Sarah Cameron can’t see how kickass you are, she doesn’t deserve you and she never did. You got us Ki, we’re always right here. No matter what.”

And throughout all of that, he hadn’t stopped looking directly at her. She was enamoured to say the least, she couldn’t remember the last time JJ talked about something that real, let alone carry an entire conversation himself. Knowing her words wouldn’t suffice, she hugged him. She smelt the sea salt in his hair and pizza grease on his shirt and it was the epitome of comfort to her. JJ hugged her right back, it meant the world to him that he could make her feel at least a bit better. They stood like that for a while, long and quiet breaths synced, arms entangled in waist and shoulders, hearts rhythmically beating, just enjoying the warmth of the best friend they dearly missed. 

Before they could completely untangle from the other, Ki looked back at JJ, god, how did she get so lucky to have someone like him in her life? The air lightened around them as she looked at him, his eyes regained the mischievous glint they always had. It might’ve been because she was slightly tipsy, or because he was staring so intently at her, but for some reason, it felt right. There was no waiting or thinking, she rested her hands on either side of JJ’s face and kissed him. His lips were chapped and they tasted like beer but she loved it. A rush of adrenaline ran through her, it was new and exciting. 

When JJ processed her soft lips on his, and her hands caressing his face, he pulled back. Along with confusion and surprise, there was something in his eyes that Ki couldn’t recognise. But before she decided on asking him what it was about, he was already kissing her again. 

And this time there seemed to be nothing holding him back. His hands were wrapped around her waist, she was grabbing fistfuls of his hair in reciprocation. They knew that they would never be able to do it again so they just gave in. His hands travelled to the small of her back and her neck and she swore that she had never felt something more intoxicating. 

Ki had forgotten where they even were when they broke for air. They were both just breathing, eyes closed and foreheads touching, it was the closest thing to perfect the either of them had ever felt.

When they opened their eyes and looked back at one and other, they were surprised at how comfortable it felt. How... un-awkward, it oddly felt right. But they knew what the rules were, they knew that when Ki got home, they would never talk about it again, and they were fine with that too.

As they approached her doorstep, JJ couldn’t help himself but ask, “Was that your first-” “Yeah.” “Yeah, mine too.” “What?” Kie thought he was joking, JJ had flirted with every other tourist at the boneyard since they were like ten, “Mine, too.” He repeated. There was an honesty to his response that stopped Ki from asking any further. 

She hugged him again. “Thank you for this. I missed you.” He hugged her right back.

“I missed you too. When you come back to us, more beer will be waiting for you no questions asked, don’t ever doubt it.” With that, he placed a soft kiss on her forehead and left. 

Ki had a small smile playing on her lips; she had never felt lighter in her life.

first, when i was sitting on the bleachers watching kris playing basketball until he hit me in the face with one.

no. 2 had a bit more plot. i was at a ccbx concert with my sister and a friend and for some stupid reason they needed somebody on the stage and i was chosen and whatever i was supposed to do on that stage - i failed, tripped, fell and landed right on my stomach, making chanyeol who was behind me trip as well and he fell right on top of my back. and then i woke up and had to laugh so hard about this bc how did i even come up with a plot that weak and idiotic.

the third one was last night or the night before, i already start to forget it lol it wasn't silly enough, bc it actually was really anxiety inducing. sth was up with yixing. there was a rumor about him going on and i just couldn't find out what and everybody was arguing about it obviously and asking for my opinion but i didn't know anything about the entire situation and at some point i woke up and was very stressed bc for a sec i wasn't sure how real that dream was o_o

oh, and i also dreamt of an chanyeol live stream during the past 4 months but i don't remember the details - i always forget them the moment i want to write them down -.-

. if you could spend the day with one member, who would it be and what would you do? well, it would be chanyeol, obviously. and i would love to spend time in his studio with him, watching his process of making music, letting him ramble about it, because it's so endearing when he talks about music and what new things he wants to try and all that. also, music talks lead to deep talk at some point. that's just a fact. thinking about it, i wouldn't even insist on the studio setting, any setting that would make it easy for me not to feel super awkward would do and then just... talk, you know? i just really wanna hear what goes on that pretty mind of his.

. which member do you think you would get on with best? jongin. very sure about that, he is calm and hilarious at the same time and makes it easy to feel comfortable in his presence, i think. also maybe baekhyun. because even if it's the final motive of his actions, i think he creates easy-going and relaxed atmospheres very quickly and effortlessly. chanyeol, yixing, kyungsoo and me would at least have a common ground with making music and songwriting, which would make it easier for me to get along with them well too. couldn't say which would work out best tho.

. which member do you think you would argue with? actually i think yixing. because as much as it is his choice (only to a certain degree of coursen but i won't start overthinking the exact terms of his contract now, this is only a tag game xD) to work so damn hard every single day, i would non-stop tell him not to be harsh on himself and to take breaks when he needs them. i guess that would annoy the shit out of him because i think he might be just as stubborn as he's determined. though i think he wouldn't be too mad because he'd know i'm just worried about him, so we wouldn't argue forever.

Hi Aeraaa. Sorry it took me long to replay, but I’m glad that I finally can do it =) I just hope tumblr won’t delay my asks further more. I get why you would expect me to major in humanities, actually there’s an area in finance called behavioral finance, and I find it one of the most interesting areas in finance, I guess we can see a pattern in here hehe. What you said about ur major and what do you like about it seems really great, and the flexibility is indeed an advantage. 1

Maybe it doesn't seems like it but I understand the hassle you mentioned. Especially with the older people. B4 I major in finance, I was planning to major in MIS which is a new course in my country. I would then get a similar reaction to the one you mentioned since it isn’t accounting or finance lol. Even though these reactions can be discouraging, it isn’t really important, what’s important is that we’re comfortable with our choices, and I’m glad for that =) but yeah, i kinda get it

And Sure, I can tell you more about what I remember about the two courses. For business communication it was more about how to use the best practices in communicating with other within the organization, like how to get your message delivered, for the sake of getting the best possible result for yourself or for the sake of the organization. Things I remember about this course were like how to make and deliver a good presentations. How to right emails and good resumes. Attitudes and body language

and stuff like that. THH reminded me of a lot from that course :D. It was relatively an easy course but important and effective nonetheless. I took this course two years ago and I kinda wish if I took it like last semester cuz I think I’ll be able to remember better how to write a good resumes lol since I’m graduating this semester. Organizational behavior course was more interesting, it was about applying psychology in understanding the behaviors of personnel so one can manage them better.

The most interesting lecture that I still remember from this course was about many kinds of human bias and how it can affect the process of decision making. People can think that they’ll be able to notice these biases and tendencies easily but the reality says otherwise. That’s what I find is interesting the most. I really like what you said here. “ I think the world actually heavily relies on stories” and I think I agree with that. :)

I never heard of Behavioral Finance before. I used to think Finance is everything about money and budgeting and practicality and business. I didn't know there's an area like that.  I just searched it now and it's about the influence of psychology on investors and financial analysts 🤯  That sounds do interesting!!!! I just recalled that someone uploaded their books in their Psychology major to our uni's online library and rn I'm studying Forensic Psychology! Since I'm currently in the psych area, I think I'm gonna look into Behavioral Finance, too!

OMYGOD Business communication is like essentially my course! Were being tsught how to say things more correctly in preswntations, speeches, arguments, in whatever setting but it tends to usually focus on business (since a lot of organizations run in a business manner). One of my majors even focused on training us how to handle crisis in organizations and we were made to attend a "How to Properly Craft E-mails 101" class. It's amazing and funny at the same time. Amazing bc omygod after that class, I was making really convincing emails that helps me get what I want from my classmates (for class works) and from my profs whenever I have inquiries. Lmao bc of this class, I got more thick-skinned in facing profs and asking them what the hell do they mean in their vague instructions. Of course not literally this way, but this is the mood HAHAHAHAHAH. After that class, I made a joke that my future job is decided: an e-mail-er. Yep, yep. Corny joke. I'll see myself out 🤣🤣🤣

 I'm glad you were able to remember business comm in THH. I did a lot of research in how offices function and I had a personal experience in entering one and I hope I was able to translate them well into writing. So knowing you remember a course about it, just makes me feel warm and utterly satisfied 🥺🥺🥺

Oh and you're graduating! Advance congratulations!  🎉🎊👏 I think there will be more opportunities to learn more about writing resumes so don't lose hope! You're still young! (And with the quarantine I think there'll be more online classes about it too!)

And yes!!! Organizational behavior is hella interesting! You're right! People like to disdain bias. They herald unbiased reporting, unbiased essay, unbiased judging (in contests), and etc. When bias is inherently ingrained in humans as it is inevitable to have preferences. And bc they are inherent, it's harder to identify them. Just like how people find it hard to explain why they became the way they were now bc it's difficult to pinpoint something muddled in the surroundings that have long immersed them. I don't think this makes sense but you get what I mean? 

Apart from comm, our course usually focuses on the psychology behind comm so we also get to study about behaviors as well and goddamn I was able to better understand people after I learned about it! 

Oh hon, you don't know how far your words affect me. But the answer is simple. You just motivate me with these kind feedbacks. And you craft your feedbacks with such thought and dedication and sincerity that it just makes my heart explode bc how?? Did?? I?? Manage?? To have you as my reader??
